Minutes
Councillor Hasselmann introduced the report from the Overview and Scrutiny Committee which set out recommendations from the Affordable Housing Panel – Service User Experience which she had chaired.
The Panel had adopted an evidence-led approach, analysing data and gathering feedback from partners and service users. The comprehensive review of the council’s housing register, allocation process and wider support services through engagement with partners and residents had resulted in valuable insight into the strengths and challenge within the current system.
A number of recommendations had been made by the Panel which aimed to ensure residents were supported holistically, recognising housing was the foundation for wellbeing, stability and opportunity.
The recommendations would be reviewed by relevant officers and the portfolio holders to consider feasibility, prioritisation and timing of implementation with an update being presented to future Overview and Scrutiny Committee.
Having considered the options and for the reasons set out in the report, the recommendations were proposed by Councillor P North, seconded by Councillor K North and Cabinet agreed to the following:
Resolved:
1. That Cabinet considers the recommendations of the Overview and Scrutiny Committee contained within the report.
2. That the relevant officers review the recommendations and advise the portfolio holder on the feasibility and timing of implementation.
3. That the Overview and Scrutiny Committee receive an update on the feasibility of implementation and timing once officers and the portfolio holder have considered the recommendations contained within the report.
