Minutes
Consideration was given to the Chairman’s Annual Report for review prior to it being submitted to Council in July.
Each year the Chairman of Overview and Scrutiny prepares an Annual Report which is presented to full Council. The report sets out the activities undertaken by the committee over the course of the last year, with a focus on the impact and outcomes achieved as a result of the work undertaken through the delivery of its work programme.
This year the format of the report has changed and is based around a series of case studies. Each case study seeks to explore the focus of the work, the activities undertaken by the committee and what happened as a result. This is a new approach to the report of the Chairman and more work will be undertaken this year by officers to develop this approach further.
The Overview and Scrutiny Annual Report of Chairman provides an opportunity for all Councillors to learn more about the important work undertaken by the committee. The case studies bring to life how the committee tailors its approach dependent on the subject and demonstrates the value that Overview and Scrutiny has as part of the overall governance framework of the Council.
Members felt that the Annual Report is well written and the new format is much more meaningful than the previous format. Subject to some minor amendments members were happy for the report to be submitted to Council.
The motion was proposed by Councillor Daas and seconded by Councillor Parker. Upon being put to the vote the motion was carried.
Resolved:
1. That the Overview and Scrutiny Annual Report of the Chairman be approved and submitted for consideration by Council in July 2025.
2. That the Head of Strategy and Innovation in consultation with the Chairman of Overview and Scrutiny, be able to make minor edits ahead of submission to Council.
