To receive feedback from members on the recent Crime and Disorder Joint Scrutiny Committee.

The Chair introduced the item and gave the Committee an update following the recent Crime and Disorder Joint Scrutiny Committee.
The Committee requested that the statutory partners that failed to attend the meeting be noted in the minutes of future crime and disorder committee meetings.

Safer Communities Team - Service Update and Presentation

Minutes
The Cabinet Member for Communities, Partnerships and Inclusion introduced the report and presentation which provided the Committee with an update on the work of the Safer Communities Team.
The Committee discussed the presentation and made the following comments:
Sought clarification on the CSPO’s work pattern and resources.
Stated that the team did excellent work.
Requested that ward councillors be informed of any action taken in their area.
Suggested that ward councillors be consulted if there were particular issues that the team wanted to gather information on.
Suggested that the team look at creating heat maps so that Councillors could see where issues occur and are dealt with more easily.
Requested Quarterly catch ups with ward members so that members could raise and receive information on local issues.
It was acknowledged that Basingstoke did not have an issue with knife crime.
Raised the ongoing issue of E-bikes, E- Scooters and speeding.
Questioned whether speed watch volunteers could have body worn cameras to protect them from abuse.
Requested that the Councillor Hub be updated with relevant information and contact details.

The Chair advised members that since the agenda was published, the work programme had been updated.
The Chair proposed that the November meeting be rescheduled to the 12th of February.
The Director of Resident Services agreed that the Wellbeing Strategy would be brought to the January meeting and that she would provide feedback from the task and finish groups.
